Hey guys. I was one of the guys repelling and working the mountains back in 78 – 82 as a rescue swimmer/crew chief. Seeing this site brings back some great memories. Do you all still occupy vultures row on occasion?
HM3 Sarah Tait is my sister & I would like to put the article from October 9, 2008, "NAS Fallon SAR Team Rescues Hiker off Ledge" By CHRISTY LATTIN, LVN Community News Editor in our local papers; the Clay County Progress & Cherokee Scout. Who do I contact for a press release?
Thanks,
Monica Cook
I just want to commend the Longhorns for their part in rescuing me the other day in the backcountry of Heavenly. I made the dumbest decision of my life thinking I could snowboard through the 4 feet of fresh powder down nearly three miles of backcountry, even though I'm an intermediate at best. I basically ended up trying to walk down through chest-high quicksand like powder before I became exhausted, wet, then frozen. I gave up and called 911. The Longhorns showed up in a helicopter and flew me to a hospital where my temperature was 93.1. This was after I'd been warmed up a bit. I would not have survived much longer out there and I knew it was a horrible way to die. Thanks Longhorns, for saving my life.
I'm DEP'd into the Navy and currently working with a SEAL to pass some type of preliminary PFT before I am accepted into aircrew, or even eligible for rescue swimmer school for that matter. I've been trying to find some solid resources on Navy SAR but it seems that all of the information I'm coming across is Coast Guard related, and that doesn't help me. I did however stumble upon the physical requirements page here on Navylonghorns.com and it at least helped me establish my minimum goals. Are there any websites or books you can recommend I read to further educate me before I ship out for boot camp?
I have heard via the grapevine that Apr 3 will be the last flight of the Navy UH-1N. Do you have any information on it? Will there be a ceremony afterward? Any details would be appreciated.
Thanks

I was stationed with the Longhorns from 87-91, Seeing this site and photos brought back some good memories. I was there when we turned the maintenance over to the contract guys.
I'm building a Scale RC heli with the UH-1 rescue helis as my model. Do you have any good photos of the nose (straight on would be best) and the tail. need call letters and layout. Any detail pics you could email would help.
Thanks

I am requesting a high resolution (300 ppi) jpeg of your logo for use in the NAF El Centro Air Show program. I am a graphic designer at the Imperial Valley Press, http://www.ivpressonline.com, and we are working with NAF EC on the official program that will be available at the show.
Sure would appreciate it if you could e-mail a larger version of your logo (the version available off your web site is not high enough resolution to be used in our offset printing process.) Whatever you can send, I can make it work.
THANK YOU!
